Please don't beat me anymore, I'm sorry what I said before. You've knocked me down, kicked me around,,your goal to beat me into the ground. You've knocked my teeth from my head, for some imagined thing I said. You claim I told a couple fibs, for that you're breaking all my ribs. Just for one itty-bitty teensey lie, you're going to beat me till I die. Why can't you slap me once, then be through, why must you beat me black and blue. My nose is broke, both eyes are blacked, I know a heart you've always lacked. The darkness is closing in on me, still you cannot let me be. I heard a snap as my arm just broke, on my own blood I start to choke. As your hands encircle my throat, into the darkness I start to float. I feel your tears falling on my face, your tears seem so out of place. My face is turning near death blue, still your beating isn't through. I can no longer draw a breath, slowly I drift into death. Suddenly I've broken free, I see you sitting on top of me. I see you sobbing, I hear you cry, I hear you asking, why did I die. You can't accept my death's your fault, your merciless beating wouldn't halt. For me it's over, my freedom's won, for you the pain has just begun. No more grief for me, no more pain, in your own Hell you shall remain. You'll spend your life in a tiny cell, after which you'll burn in Hell. When you vowed to take me as your wife, the word was for, not to take my life. D.L. Crockett -- 12/06/96
