Ringing True

If they say you'll have nothing, will you give it all up?
If they offer you poison, will you drink from their cup.
When spouting their lies, will you lend them an ear.
If they tell you to get lost, will you disappear.
When they profess to be honest, will you believe.
Are you willing to get caught in the webs they weave.
If they tell you to jump, will you jump to conclusions.
Would you turn on your friends, start casting aspersions.
When they smile in your face, will you turn your back.
Knowing you're going to feel their knife sneak attack.
If told Biden was king, would you kneel kissing his ring.
When they slap you down, will your cheeks even sting.
Can you hear their words, and think they speak for you.
If they're handing you baubles that are shiny and new.
If they promise you anything, would you give up your goals.
Would you so recklessly squander your eternal soul.
If they get up close and personal, crowding your space.
Would you even think twice about using your mace.
When they say they're all about unity, would you run.
Would you rightly realize, they're coming after your guns.
To avoid confrontation, do you acquiesce to their will.
Even if it puts you squarely on the pathway to Hell.
Can you dig what I'm saying, pick up what I'm laying down.
If Joe Biden's our king, he wears a duncecap for his crown.
If you like what you're reading, if my message rings true.
You'll know it's time to stand up, or our republic is through.
