Why I Love Jesus

I would start my talk with an experience I had.

This happened when I was five years old. By the time I turned five I’d had 4 bouts with pneumonia. Each time it would get worse. I don’t remember being there but I was in the hospital several times.

We were on a family trip to Montana to visit my mother’s family. She had moved with her family to San Diego during the depression. We were almost to my mother’s Aunt Anna and Uncle Charlies in Mile’s City when my parents noticed that I was getting sick. By the time we got to Miles City I had a full blown case of pneumonia. Later on my father said it was the the worst I’d Had. Over the years I’ve learned I was so sick that my parents thought I was dying. My father ended up giving me a priesthood blessing. I don’t remember that. The only thing I remember is that I was in a bright beautiful garden with Jesus, Until he told me to go back to my parents. Later on they told me I had gone outside and was wondering around and they found me out by the Tongue River. My father said he woke me up and asked what I was doing, He said I told him I was following Jesus.

A couple years ago I asked my older brother what he remembered about that night. He said that my father gave me the blessing and a few minutes later I got up and walked out the front door. I know I saw Jesus that night and I know he is always with me. After this night I never got penumonia again.

When I fell away from the church when I was seventeen I never lost my love for my Savior or for his gospel.
